[wellylug] Suggestion for Monday night

I was wondering if it was a good idea if the wellylug could try to
attempt to package openoffice as an RPM, and I guess as a deb if some
are keen on that too.

I was thinking it would be worthwhile because we could compile it
against a specific architecture, and with a "good" freetype. Both of
these were done for Mandrake 8.2 and it made a real difference
apparently (it certainly did with the fonts anyway).

Since the Mandrake 9.0 betas don't currently have an openoffice RPM, I
thought it may be a good candidate (perhaps along with RedHat's new
one).

There would be quite a bit to learn, I think:
        1. How to set it up to compile against a specific architecture
        2. How to look at an existing openoffice RPM, and take the core
of the configuration and copy it across to make a new one
        3. How to get it to use a specific library instead of the
           provided ones, e.g. freetype, libstdc++
        4. How to get all the binaries and actually put it into an RPM
I don't know how to do any of these, but it would be nice to learn :-)

Obviously there is no way at all we could do the actual compile on the
night, but we could formulate a team to do it and get the plan underway.
