To all Wellingtonians
I am currently the only nominee for both the Wellington Regional
Coordinator and Government Coordinator positions for the forthcoming AGM.

I am happy to give my time to one of these roles but not both. Please
consider putting yourself forward for these positions so we can make a
strong organisation with good Wellington representation.

If you wish to be a candidate for election of officers for the NZOSS can you
please post your annoucement of candidacy to this list ASAP.
Candidates will be listed on the NZOSS web site, along with a bio and picture.
Voting will be held on the day of the AGM - 14 September. Candidates will
have the opportunity to speak at the AGM, and voting at the venues will be
held after.
List of positions (from Constitution):
7.1 President: The President is responsible for the control of meetings, and
authorisation of expenditure and of contracts. He may also authorise press
releases in the absence of the Media Liaison officer.
7.2 Financial Controller: The financial controller is responsible for keeping
the financial records of the society, and for authorisation of expenditure.
7.3 Secretary: The Secretary is responsible for keeping records of the
proceeding of meetings, authorisation of expenditure in absence of the
President, and of notification of meetings.
7.4 Regional Coordinators: The Regional Coordinators will be responsible for
organisation of events within their Region, and will represent the views of
that region at committee meetings. The number of regional coordinators may
vary, however a region must contain several members to warrant a committee
coordinator.
Define positions for the following regions:
- Auckland
- Wellington
- Christchurch
- Dunedin
7.5 Corporate Coordinator: Will be responsible for communication and
coordination of strategy to advocate corporate and business use of Open
Source.
7.6 Government Coordinator: Will be responsible for communication and
coordination of strategy to advocate use of Open Source within Government
Departments.
7.7 Education Coordinator: Will be responsible for communication and
coordination of strategy to advocate use of Open Source within Schools,
Universities and other training facilities.
7.8 Developer Coordinator: Will be responsible for communication and
coordination of strategy to help software developers to use Open Source
technology. Also will perform evaluations and recommendations to society for
software projects that would be in the public interest for us to fund.
7.9 Media Liaison Coordinator: Will be the primary point of contact in the
society for the media. Will be responsible for approving all official press
releases.

Technical Coordinator: Will be responsible for the NZOSS web site, and any
technical evaluations or research.
