Depending on the drive, Mandrake 9 may autodetect it. Try installing/running
something like eroaster & use its drive detect facilities to see if it works.
If not, you can manually mount it as a virtual SCSI drive (as you mentioned
above), For a detailed description of how to do this, see

It isn't Mandrake specific, but is a good place to start.
If you don't want to resort to this, a reinstall of Mandrake 9 should find the
CDRW & sort it all out. It seems to do this sort of hardware detection/
configuration better on installation than afterwards.
