[wellylug] a real beginner

Hello
I was wondering if someone could give advice on what
book would provide a good basis for doing things to my
computer.
I have a P166 and am running Debian 2.1. I have the
Oreilly debian book and Jochen Hein's. Neither helped
me get the mouse working, it's a ps2 and needed to be
set /dev/psaux, I found that by chance on the
internet.

I am now trying to get the sound to work. But neither
of my books say how to install a driver, assuming I
can find one. So you can see what i mean about
absolute beginner, I have never installed a driver and
have never seen a description of the process. Where do
I learn about this sort of thing.
