Hi 

Thanks for your replies...
I managed to get it work, using nobody to initialize the directory (thanks to 
webmin, a must have !!). However the dameon seems to be owned by root from a 
RPM, (I know I have been a bit lazy on this one !!).
/etc/passwd and group are as indicated, but installed from a 7.0. So I guess 
it will be the same for 7.1.
It seems to be working, got the error messages when expected etc....

Amazingly Netscape does not want to know anything about my config (proxy 
automatic config) where Konqueror does not complain and works smoothly !
