Hi Lindsay,

I can vouch for mozilla these days :))

especially on linux:

handles remote imap over ssl to multiple mail servers at the same time
can handle mailboxes with 9000+ messages
has excellent search and filter capability
doesn't break the mail box :))
excellent address book, builds from sent and received mail
can handle mixed pop and imap accounts

only downer is no spell chacking

I have used Mozilla for all my email for the past year and can happily 
say that the bugs I
have found have been no more frustrating than those in Outlook !!  With 
Mozilla 1.0 imminent
there are no excuses left unless you like pine - my other favourite 
mailer :) recently sent a
75MB attachment from pine to local sendmail to remote server on a P90 
with 32MB ram - no worries!
