[wellylug] PPP and 2.4.16

Since upgrading to 2.4.16 I've been unable to use PPP and I'm 
stuck. The modem is an old external Dynalink 1414VE. Syslog 
reports:

Seems odd that ttyS01, what I thought was my modem, is on the 
same IRQ as my ethernet card. I've tried recompiling with a few 
different settings that were reccomended but that was fruitless.
Ideas?
