These could be contained under "techincally superior" but...
add:
- correctly deployed and used is close to completely invulnerable to
virus - saves cost and downtime
- remote administration simplifies management and saves time/cost
- zero license management costs
- open standard file formats - avoiding lockin to expensive applications
- cheaper for students to have similar setup at home
