Hi

Even a dial up connection may not be secure.
Using TCPlog I have recorded sor far about 250 attacks in the last 6 months.

BTW it is a handy tool, detects attacks and add the IP in the /etc/hosts.deny 
like
ALL: 203.XXX.XXX.XXX 
(apart from your local network, of course)

Then you just have to nslookup the IP to know who.
