I had heard stories of such things, however I have not experienced any
problems with them myself yet. I generally go for their special edition
drives featuring an 8 MB cache, and I have only really started to use
them in the last 4 months. I have an 80Gb special edition drive on my
box which does 46Mb/s UDMA100, and I had more problems with my
motherboard chipset then the disk itself. I do agree tho WD have had a
bad name until very recently and I wouldn't have touched their drives at
the beginning of the year.
