This factor also makes a big difference for remote management of servers. When you administer all your servers via ssh - it makes no difference where they are as the interface is the same, all you realy need is a shell and vi. Remotely administering windows machines over the network, is not as easy or effective and is more bandwidth sensitive (I believe, Im lucky enough not to have to do this ;).
