For a good NZ mirror that supports Rsync check out:
debian.attica.net.nz (which is a CNAME for vftp.tranzpeer.net) they have the mandrake 9.0 ISOs - It seems pretty fast aswell - I was getting 120KB/s here - not bad. I was using FTP tho - I didnt have any of the RCs or betas.
I also recomend rsync for backups - I use it to mirror the config and other imortant files on a number of servers from cron.
You can also use it to "export" and "import" your home dir if you want to have the same home dir on a bunch of different machines (in situations where you wouldnt use NFS). I use it so i can work on the same perl code at home and at work - kind of like checking in and out of cvs.
It can also be handy for web trees - in fact any tree that needs to be moved around
you can run it over ssh (recomended) or rsh or you can run a client and server (listens on port 873)
I managed to download and burn all 3 mandrake iso's at work today, so im off home to install 9.0 :)
besides that - i found a Red Hat 4.2 boxed set at work - it was going to get thrown out - does anyone in the LUG collect old linux memoriabilia - I would be happy to donate it to someones collection, has box 2 floppys, 2 cds pamphlet, reqistration card.
Free to a good home
