[wellylug] How does Suse handle RPM dependencies?

Hi fellow list members,
Mandrake has urpmi which handles dependencies rather well when the
sources are defined correctly. The GUI version, rpmdrake, is also
effective (especially for browsing) but the command line is better for
when options like forcing is required. urpmi --auto-select is quite
powerful, updating all packages that need to be updated.
How does Suse handle it? Is there some kind of central database at Suse
for dependencies, that its GUI tool uses? Also,is there an equivalent
to the penguin liberation front (useful for stuff that is legal outside
of the US, e.g. encrypted DVD reading)?
Thanks and best wishes,
Damon
