Well, I'm using the Codeweavers Preview version, which was a free
download from their site (different from the winehq version).
You have to install dcom98.exe, corfnt32.exe, newfnt32.exe and the
common control update first.
You need the full install of ie6 with all the cab files, as the small
network installer won't install properly.
Once installed, you need to change wine to use the shell32.dll, etc.
that IE just installed (this is where Microsoft got into trouble by
replacing the Windows dlls with IE ones so you couldn't go backwards)
by twiddling your dll options in your wine config.
Then to get it to actually run, you need to either grab explorer.exe
from a real Windows 98 install and run it once (because it whacks a
load of keys into the registry) or download the .reg file from
somewhere that has the keys in it you need (I forget the URL sorry...
try googling!).
Then cross your fingers and stand on your head, and recite the correct
incantation.
I got it to work using trial and error, but there are some organised
HOWTOs and resources out there (which would have saved me hours if not
days had I but known!)
HTH,
Jonathan
