We found Creative labs tended to work quite well.
Certainly what I found when I was testing cards for voice recognition a few
years back

I'd be surprised if any of my old LPs have 72dB of dynamic range left in
them and I'm not going to spend the $1000 or so for the upmarket turntable
to find out but even with my ac97 MB sound interface, you can't tell the
difference between the CD and LP it was copied from.
The speakers responce roll off pretty heavily at 60kHz so not much
difference in the alpha waves either ;-)
