I completely understand.  I still use MH (a command line mail program)
for exactly this reason.

I'm sure it'd be possible.  But unfortunately I don't know enough about
RedHat 9 to advise exactly what would be required.

Correct.  Each line in that file says "if the person is logged in with
this name, then they can set the From address to whatever they like".
So it has to be the name you log in with on your PC.

The "set envelope_from" should do this (once the entry is in for
sendmail).
