I use an old (P200 Compucon) laptop as an E-Smith (aka Mitel SME)
server/gateway for my home lan.
Wouldn't even know it is there. Only niggle with setting it up was getting
PCMCIA working for the NIC
but even that was just a matter of following the tutorial at the E-smith.org
site.

i've seen some compaq's (3-4 yr old) that make the sound of jet plane when
the fan kicks in :))
