Does your comment also apply to newer HP/Compaq? Can anyone else comment on
these? They have a really nice widescreen Centrino laptop (nx7000) but I
don't know it's pedigree; unfortunately I think it may be a Presario
derivative, and my only past experience with Presario is that they are crap.
The nx7000 looks good on paper, but is already off to a bad start with a
firmware upgrade required to fix a keyboard problem.
I've had only good experiences with Toshiba; my partner has had only Toshibas
from work for years now, and they never give any trouble. So far.
I notice there is a trend back to shared memory for video, and the effect of
this is immediately apparent if you compare two laptops side by side.
Unfortunately, only the more expensive laptops will have dedicated video
memory.
