Just to report that I have managed to eventually solve my own problem - a
search on Google showed the need to edit /etc/hotplug/usb.usermap and add in
a line for our new camera, which was then accessable using flphoto under KDE.
The camera in this case was autopdetected as a USB PTP camera. Download then
worked fine.

I have just bought a Canon Powershot A70 digital camera and am trying to
connect it to my PC (running mdk 9.1). This is the first time I have tried
to connect a USB device, or a camera for that matter, so am not sure what
setting up I need to do. Simply plugging the camera into my PC and accesing
flphoto (the digital camera manager under kde) achieves nothing.

Do I have to manually mount my USB port first, and if so what command do I
use, and how can I setup an icon link to do this from my desktop?

Any advice/ guidance would be much appreciated.

cheers

Colin
