TODAY'S TOP STORY
Microsoft has begun the process of patenting several technologies
related to its .NET initiative, a move that many observers claim could
stifle
innovation and threaten the establishment of industry standards. The
patent would cover several key .NET application programming interfaces
(APIs)
and, if granted, would allow Microsoft to dictate who can develop
software compatible with .NET systems.
