For those interested, the info on the Shuttle based supercomputer is at
http://space-simulator.lanl.gov/
They used the older (but still available) SF51 Shuttle box using a P4 CPU & SiS
chipset. The cluster is supposedly ranked at 85th most powerful supercomputer
in the world.
Interestingly (to me anyway) they used the SiS chipset version instead of the
Intel 845 & Maxtor hard drives.
Those interested in the Falcon SFF can hold off a week or two. It seems that
around 50% have power supply problems in NZ, & there is some deep & meaningful
dialogue ongoing between FIC & the local distributors. The hoped for solution
is to have a heap of replacement power supplies shipped out & swapped in within
a week or so.
I should still have one for March 10 meeting, I guess I was lucky :-)
Cheers
Brent
