Hi Damon & Jon,

This is a combined reply, as am in Mandrake and don't have the emails to reply 
to.  Outlook Express and mozilla are giving all sorts of bother freezing 
before I can complete anything!  :-)

Yes I have a modem, and no Jon I don't have CDs - it was installed by a work 
colleague using the ftp.

I might have a go at downloading from the net Damon, just for fun - could 
start it at night.  Otherwise waiting for the 9.1 seems a good idea.  It 
would be good to install it myself provided I had detailed instructions for 
the bootloader so I don't overwrite Windows MBR again!  As I did trying to 
install RedHat.

Jon I should have heaps of room, it's a 10Gb partition with only Mandrake on 
it, and I haven't any data on it.  Anyway:

/dev/hda5 5.3Gb  	used 3.0	avail 2.0	/
/dev/hda7	4.2G		         41M		4.2G	/home
/dev/hda1	8.9G			298M	8.6G	/mnt/windows

It always interests me that Linux recognises Windows but not vice versa.
No swap file, which is not making things go faster.  I don't suppose it's 
possible to create one either?
