/etc/lilo.conf has been suggested as being incorrect. RH8.0 updated this
file for me during install. Does it keep a backup of the old one? Where?
/etc/~lilo.conf ? I could compare them then.

Clean install? I'll have questions about which files to backup first to keep
some settings I have... (DHCP, network settings being the main two)
