The way this is done with Mailman is to register the extra addresses and
then mark them "nomail" -- then they're known to the list, but they
don't get sent copies of the messages. Individual users can do this
themselves (by registering, then going and changing their preferences),
or the mailing list admin can do it "in bulk" through the add
users/modify users admin page.
So far it's running about neck'n'neck between "just put spamassassin in,
leave the list open" and "make posting registered-members only" (about
half a dozen for each side). Making the list registered-members-only is
easier to set up, but will require more ongoing work -- so it's only my
preference if I don't have to do the ongoing work :-)
