[wellylug] new to Wgtn, mozilla problems

Welcome to Wgtn
I also live in Elsdon behind Mana College near the North City Mega Centre
and can confirm we do not have Saturn here in Elsdon or anywhere else in
Porirua City yet. It covers most of the Kapiti Coast but there are issues to
be sorted out with the City Council over cabling as I understand it. Porirua
has not allowed overhead cables (telecom or electrical) for years (since
1970s or 80s I think) - only the older areas of the city have overhead
cables. All new subdiviisions and all new cables going in have to go
underground and I am told by Saturn the cost/benefit of doing so has become
the main factor in them not yet coming in here. I have rung Telstra Saturn
several times to find out progress but all they have been able to tell me is
they intend to come into the area but it isn't guaranteed in the immediate
or near future - sort of watch this space. Paradise or Clearnet is the only
Telstra Saturn option available here at present - I understand you can
still get a fast internet package from them but not the full services they
offer in other areas and you still have to rely on Telecom for the phone
line etc. Telecom probably got a head start as their cables were put
underground when the policy was first adopted by Council at a time when it
was a Government owned enterprise and the only player on the block.
