Writing to an ntfs filesystem with Linux has been reported as being
highly unstable in the past, i.e. you *will* fsck it. If you want to be
safe, make sure you mount read-only. I've seen some dodgy things
recently where the sizes reported by ls and du for some subdirectory
tree didn't match up by a long shot. As it was read-only it didn't
matter.
