claims $59.95/month _plus_ $17/month for cable modem rental; which IIRC
is a small decrease on what it used to be, plus a bump in bandwidth
allocation.  Certainly the higher speed one (2Mbps down) has gone down
in price a bit.

Are you sure on the $53.95 including cable modem price?  That's
approximately another $20/month less than I thought they were lowering
their prices down to, and at that price I can think of a few more people
who might be interested.

Not that this helps Joe Wilson -- his problem appears to be that Telstra
is unable to install a cable modem for him at present.
