Hey Lindsay,
what do you run SME on? What do you use it for? 
I've got E-smith 4.1.2 on a P200 laptop as a server/gateway for my HAN (home
area network)
using a 3 com modem via the serial port and a PCMCIA network card to talk to
the lan.
Stone axe reliable, the laptop is quite good for this - its small, its quiet
& it has a built in UPS.
