[wellylug] nfs problem

First pick would be iptables... rumour has it that a default RH 8 install
runs iptables even if asked not to. service iptables stop followed by
chkconfig iptables off if you want to get rid of it permanently. Next would
be were the services started in the correct order? portmapper then nfs? If
the portmapper is running then stop/start nfs to make sure it has
registered properly. Next question would be does showmount -e remotehost
return the expected results?

Please respond to

I cant seem to get NFS working between two boxes running Redhat 8.0.
The rpcinfo command shows that the needed services are all running on both
machines.
When I use the one machine as a server, the client machine hangs on the
mount
instruction.
When I use the other machine as the server, the client machine complains:
"mount: RPC: Port mapper failure - RPC: unable to receive"
Odd, as the same configuration worked between the same two boxes running
Debian (woody).
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Bob
