If a MX record can be put in for WHATEVER.lug.net.nz that points at
mail.naos.co.nz, then I'm happy to redirect WHOEVER at WHATEVER.lug.net.nz
at an appropriate mailbox as part of hosting the website, for any
WellyLUG administrative functions (webmaster, postmaster, contact, etc).

The same is true if someone wants to register wellylug.org.nz, or
wlug.geek.nz or wellylug.geek.nz or any other variation.  (IIRC there's
been enough offers of money to do that at least this year.)

I'll even host the DNS for it if you want.

But I'd really rather that someone else owned the domain if that is
done.  Not only do I not want to hold WellyLUG's mail/website/whatver
hostage, I want it to be obvious that I'm not doing so.  If it's all
done through a domain controlled by WellyLUG then it can easily be
picked up and moved somewhere else by whoever has the domain UDAI (ie,
master password).

My phone number is on the "contacts" page of Naos's website.  If someone
wants to call me to help get this sorted, feel free.

Or you can spend some random amount of money and get it all hosted at
one of the gazillions of ISPs, website hosting firms, etc.

FWIW, the problem really isn't as hard as y'all are making out.
