[wellylug] grrrrr

The article contains numerous quotes and paraphrasing of the original
briefing and presentation.

The correct responses would be in two parts:
- One to Computerland complaining about the quality fo reporting and lack of
invitation to respond appropriately to their article as presented. Remember
that this wasa report, not a bit of journalism. The difference is that the
reporter hid the complete facts by one-word quotations and paraphrasing,
with out justification. A journalist would present his own view on what the
lawyer said, complete with his personal bias and opinions. At least the
article avoided that much. However there should be avenue for reasoned
response through Computerland about the article.

- Second to the lawyer, his company, and the Commerce Commission requesting
that the definitions of words, as highlighted by the presentation, are
sought and clarified in the New Zealand classification of legal definitions
and codified into law. This will set the stage for ensuring legal status of
GPL software in New Zealand.

This response is copied to NZOSS as well. Please continue the discussion
there.

Yes.

It's being discussed on the NZOSS openchat mailing list, and various people
are in the process of drafting a reply to it. As you probably noticed
there's a few things about it which do require a reply.

You (and others) may wish to send your own (polite, well reasoned) reply to
ComputerWorld and see if they'll publish it.
