My network is like this:

1. DMZ machine, connected to gateway via crossover:

3c59x, negotiated 100baseTx-FD, link ok

2. LAN machines (example 1), connected to gateway via PCI 4-port
10/100Mbps ethernet switching hub card on the gateway:

3c90x, negotiated 100baseTx-FD flow-control, link ok

3. gateway:

(connection to LAN, PCI 4-port 10/100Mbps ethernet switching hub card
mentioned above)

8139too, 10 Mbit, half duplex, no link

(connection to DMZ)

dmfe, 10 Mbit, half duplex, no link

So I conclude from this that -

     1. these cards should be functioning at 100Mbps, based on the above
        setup
     2. they're not, in the situation where there is both a simple
crossover connection, and one with a built in hub
     3. it could be hardware or software, I don't know :)

Thanks,
Damon
