[wellylug] WellyLUG List Noise Levels

Ok everyone repeat after me ... Friends don't send friends HTML!

I use a common plain text email client both at home and at work - Outlook
2000.

I go to great pains to make sure every reply I do to a HTML email is done
as plain text. The default setup at work uses plain text - I love the
power :-). I make sure I subscribe to the plain text version of
newsletters, and tell people that when they make the newsletters plain
text I will resubscribe - hey if they want to sell or advertise something
they'll do it.

Mind you if I had to choose between the 2 evils I would go for the HTML
over Outlook Rich Text. We have had trouble sending emails to some
organisations when we use Rich Text, I understand that some versions of
Lotus Notes spit the dummy over Rich Text.

Yes HTML is common, but still far from the lowest common denominator. If
this was a MS mailing list I would say go with the HTML, but because we
use Linux (or at least pretend to :-), and use it at various levels and
through various methods, from the gui to the command line, plain text just
makes a lot more sense.

Just throwing my dollar's worth of kerosene into the fire ...

Ian
