Um - CDs are read only. So you can't rename anything on a CD. You can
copy it somewhere else (with cp) and rename it there (with mv).

cd changes your working directory. When you give a command like urpmi a
filename, it will look in your working directory for it. If, as I
suspect, you have not yet copied the file into your home directory
(/home/kadim) and renamed it, this would explain it

Try this:
Assuming you have only one file on the CD, do this:
1. insert your CD in the CDROM drive
2. Open a konsole window
3. type su
4. enter your password
5. then type "urpmi /mnt/cdrom/*.rpm" (without the quotes) and hit
enter
Tell us what it says :)
Dear all,
It says: unable to access rpm file [/mnt/cdrom/*.rpm]
error registering local packages
And from Stephen Judd:
- Yes, it isn't copied into my home directory as I check with ls command.
- the instruction of Mr Carr is clear but still fail. Perharps you can provide me the steps to copy from cd to home directory (He hasn't explained yet?)
Many many thanks,
Kadim
