First, save your doc -- I wouldn't want you to lose anything.

Then try this:
:%s:\<OTAGO\>:&:g

It's probably case-sensitive -- I don't know for sure.

Maybe ':help count-items' will be useful too?

can a vim guru here tell me how to count the number of instances of a
word in a document? eg, how many times "OTAGO" appears in the current
file.
