Hi All & Jamie
I know about the licensing conditions...I am also more aware of them because
I am a Lycoris Beta tester (I can't say anymore on that due to the NDA I
signed).
We can freely give away Lycoris Desktop/LX (Download Edition) and install it
on people's PC's, but because they didn't "buy" a copy they can't claim
technical support. They also don't have access to IRIS (online downloadable
auto-installing packages) because they wouldn't have a license key. It works
in a similar way to the RedHat Network. They have free access to system
updates via the Update Wizard.
If people wish, I can get license keys for them, so that they get 60 days
e-mail technical support, and life-time access to IRIS (the catch is that
when the next major Desktop/LX system is released - codenamed Beryl - is
that the key will no longer work - the key will only work for Desktop/LX
(Amethyst) releases).
If people would like more info on the licensing, please e-mail Rus at
Lycoris Sales and Marketing (rus at lycoris.com). Rus is the Vice-President in
charge of Sales and Marketing.
Regards
Michael

I must say that I cannot see how we can recommend a distribution that is
commercial like Lycoris as we are not able to give copies of it to
people to try. Their licensing agreement dose allow copies to be made
but there are major restrictions on the use of updates etc. as the
licence key issued can only be used on one system at a time.
I must insist that we do NOT promote the use of software that we do not
really appear to be able to offer 100% legally.
It may be that I am reading their licensing agreement wrong and I am
open to explanations of how we can offer Lycoris to people to use if it
can be done legitimately.
Just my 2 cents, but worth mentioning IMHO.
