2004 installfest planning meeting:
Please attend if possible, at least let us know what you can do to help on the
day if you can't attend this meeting.
2nd Installfest planning meeting at-
6:00PM at JJ Murphy's in the Cuba Mall this Tuesday?
Agenda
Distro guru's- who are they?
installers- ditto?
presentations- who & what
- registrations
demonstrations?
advertising ppt
radio/newspaper advertising???
CD printing?
install form-?
printed brochure- design
- distribution
My thanks to the few who have offered general help. I apologise for not getting
back individually, but I have had too much on...
We esp need individuals to take on responsibility for actual installs:
Mandrake 9.2
Fedora core 1.0
Debian
Driver/winmodem help
Our aim is to have someone who is a team leader for a team for each distro, and
to have people in each team. Someone able to provide help with Winmodems for
each team is also needed.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We do NOT have enough people for this now, and without some volunteers to make
this work the Installfest may not occur. Please support this event.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
If you can contribute your time on the day in this area, please let us know
ASAP
We also have a few 20 minute slots for presentations.
So far the only one I'm aware of which is going ahead is the basic "what is
Linux? " one, coz I've done some work on it.
Others which have been proposed are:
About WLUG (Jamie)
Desktop LX (Michael)
One option is a LiveCD demo/install, for people to watch/question which
hopefully will be pretty simple.
We are looking to have one every half hour, for 20 mins with 10 mins changeover
time. This allows about 8 sessions comfortably, so ther is time to either run
some more than once (each is limited to about 30 people) or if anyone can put
one of their own together, maybe Open Office/GIMP???? please let us know that
too...
See you there!!!!
