Hi Phillip.

I suspect that maybe tomsrtbt ships with a newer 2c589_cs.o than debian 
does.  I don't know if it'll help, but I'd try the debian 2.4.18 boot 
disks images at

ftp://ftp.citylink.co.nz/debian/dists/stable/main/disks-i386/current/images-1.44/bf2.4

They've dug me out of similar holes in the past.
