I realised as I was leaving the office at lunchtime, that Disc space isn't the only problem with excessive quoting...
There is also the issue of transmission time for those of us without high speed bandwidth (i.e.56k & below - I survive on 33.6 at home and that can be a struggle against Kazaa) and reading time (as mentioned by Ewen), etc, etc...
There is also a lot of space taken by overlarge .sig files and other trailing paraphernalia
(eg configure AVG to append rather than attach it's verification message)
As I recall the recommended maximum for a .sig file is 5 lines (but that dates from about 15 years ago)
I'll apologise now for the information appended by the MIS department in a blind attempt to advertise...
