A major variable seems to be the actual transfer rate rather than the 
protocol.  I am trying to get my head around that.  If it is a 512 Mb 
chip, it will take a long time to transfer if it is being used as the 
primary data drive.  I need to find one of those comparative tests.

Was the Transcend  OK.  They have a relatively recent model that they 
tout as being very fast.  9 Mbs I recall.
