Not dumb, just ignorant. One of these conditions can be remedied :-)

Can I suggest RDBMS stuff include Postgres, or other Open Source databases that
offer a bit more serious DB functionality than MySQL. (I don't want to start a
OS RDBMS war here, but MySQL is completely unable to do much of what I require
a DB to do, what it does, it does just fine, just not what I need :-)

Also, is anyone interested in providing a workshop for interested members,
rather than a presentation? 

A presentation does enough to show us what we could do if we upskilled a bit
(or a lot), but some help in the actual upskilling might be useful (I can think
of a 
few areas I'd love to learn about, rather than just see presented)
