I thought that was M$, that why they should get into making vacuum cleaners,
everything they make sucks :-) Nice to know you believe Mandrake was the only
other possibility for a commercial Linux desktop tho.

Seriously, given the general corporate US support which has traditionally gone
to Red Hat, as the major US Linux player, this suggests Red Hat's decision to
leave the desktop market might have cost them. HP has been a long time Red Hat
supplier on the server side of things, they didn't run with other US desktop
Linux offerings such as Lindows, but chose an ex European, newly American
distro to launch a new range. This is a business decision I don't believe HP
would have taken lightly. 

SUSE is a nice distro (it's the only one I really consider using apart from
Mandrake, as a desktop/workstation distro for my particular use), it's good to
see it getting stronger after the Novell purchase, not disappearing into the
background, like Caldera & one or two others.

Also nice to see HP endorsing Carl's decision at the installfest :-)
