One thing that Cable companies are going to be doing with the better 
network control is to start offering the desktop as a service. There are 
a number of companies using the new low bandwdth SunRay features in the 
just released 3.0 beta (refer: 
http://wwws.sun.com/software/download/products/410ff85d.html ).

This allows the Telco to com in and install the modem and the SunRay and 
then you get a full service desktop. Everything is stored and operated 
at the Telco/ISP, if the unit breaks they just courier you a new one. 
Very cool.
