Excuse me for saying, but the cost of International Bandwidth agrument is
all crap. If Telecom opened up the rest of the Southern Cross cable and also
if they gave us access to the new IPSTAR sat then NZ could have more
bandwidth then we know what to do with, which would make bandwidth super
cheap.

The cost of access isn't the problem, it's the cost of international
bandwidth. Cheap, high-speed, flat-rate internet still won't work in
NZ. It's very cheap to upgrade capacity on a cable network, and any
bottlenecks to tend to occur elsewhere.

The features in 1.1 or even 2.0 tend to be focused on the provider,
rather than the user ie. things like extra security, QoS etc. DOCSIS
2.0 does include faster modulation profiles (more bandwidth), but only
upstream.
