I didn't say that they were effective, or properly enforced, but
controls on monopolies do exist (Commerce Act 1986). In _theory_,
companies are not supposed to be able to collude on pricing, or
prevent the entry of new businesses into a market. In practice, to
find out whether a particular company's conduct is actually
anti-competitive under the law, you probably need to ask a lawyer.
