If it's under warranty why are you bothering us then? ;-)

The noise is most likely from something vibrating at the refresh frequency
(or some harmonic there of), most likely the flyback transformer. You may
find that at different refresh rates and resolutions you get a different
noise. I don't know why different colours would effect this (maybe the
higher screen current with brighter displays marginally effects the refresh
circuitry, but then you'd probably notice the display width change).

Turning it off most likely simply lets it cool off, maybe there's a bad
solder joint the opens up when hot. Capacitors don't make much sound
(apart from bang!). Is it a high pitched pure note or more of a wheezing
sound?

If it wasn't under warranty and you wanted to fix it yourself, you'd want
to check out the mounts of the flyback transformer and surrounding metal
screen etc to ensure none of it can vibrate (of course first unplugging it,
checking the tube is discharged and being qualified to do it, might help).
Bumping the monitor (percussive maintenance) may have some effect, as might
titling it sideways, flexing the case etc.

Whether you'll get it replaced under warranty is a different matter - they
might just tell you they all do that :-)
