I had the same problem with Xine, and it went away after I moved to the
2.6 kernel...

It never worked on a personal built install, when I used Knoppix it
worked ok - I went to the 2.6 kernel and it appeared to have fixed
it....  I think it "may" be something to do with the graphics drivers or
something...
