There is a VNC extension for XFree86 that lets you share the 'primary' X 
display - i.e. the one the local user sees much like the Windows VNC setup
Using this extension you can have one X11 desktop with all your apps 
that you can access from anywhere, as opposed to one 'local' X session, 
and a separate X session running on a vncserver.
