[wellylug] Slightly OT: Cable alternatives

Hi everyone,
It appears that a move to the northern 'burbs is nigh for me. Unfortunately, (a BIG unfortunately), the property is not connectable to the Telstraclear cable network :(

Having taken 4 weeks to come to terms with this, I believe I now have 2 realistic options:

1.	GASP from NZ wireless
2.	ADSL via Orcon (appears to be the best resale deal from the beast with a fixed IP)

Have any list members experience of either service or any comments to offer?
Any other service suggestions/recommendations?
With respect to option 2, are there any recommendations for a decent ADSL router with stateful inspection firewall?

Cheers all,
--
