Well, 'as little as possible' - the thing is more or less a paperweight 
in terms of performance and upgradability when you consider the 
price/performance of, say a new 1U Dell or IBM x86 server. It does have 
plenty of RAM which is nice and i'm sure it cost about $40,000 new, but 
if your buying this for anything but 'nostalgia value', you can probably 
find a better machine. anything with a P3-800 or better (and i might be 
giving the ultraSPARC II too much credit here) will run rings around 
this machine running Linux, so look on trademe for what a rackmountable 
P3-800 will cost you second hand, and use that as a guideline.

Being a Sun, it will be solidly engineered, which is a point in the 
machine's favour, and all it's hardware should be well supported by both 
Solaris 9/10 and Linux. It will make a fine web, mail, database or 
'something to run Solaris on' server - I certainly wouldn't pay more 
than $1000 for this machine, less than $500 would be a giveaway price. - 
Something in the middle there would represent reasonable value i think. 
Hopefully i'm not too far off in my estimations.

If anyone has any voilent disagreeements with this assessment, please 
post, as I by no means an expert.
